Character Most likely to survive
In my opinion, the character that i will think will most likely survive the war is Lee. Lee is a very intelligent guy and is also really knowledgeable. He is described in the book as physically fit, who represents the body of an athlete. Lee is really protective of his fellow friends who he just became close with when they went camping to Hell. Lee also becomes intense about the war with the invaders and feels more apart of the group when he is involved in the action. He is described as being a loner and a guy kept to himself, i would think as being a loner you would have more time to think about ideas that will be effective in this war.
Lee's intelligence is a great skill that they needed in the novel. Someone who is intelligent can think of smart and effective ideas that can easily help them in this war. "Lee was a dark as Fi was fair. He had a black crewcut and deep brown intelligent eyes, and a nice soft voice which clips the ends off some of his words.'' ( Pg15)
Lee was very protective and determined in this novel, he always made sure that everyone was safe. He also changes throughout the novel and develops from a loner who is withdrawn into a more complex individual who seems to thrive on action. Ellie notices this change just before they attack the bridge. Ellie quotes ''The thing i liked most about it was the effect it had on Lee. He was determined to do it. He lifted his head more and more.'' (Pg254)
Lee was a really loveable guy, even though Ellie does point out that Lee doesnt like things going against him and he would go and have a sulk and not talk to anyone for days at a time. Lee does form a relationship and he shows and makes it obvious that he cares alot for Ellie. He said to her at one point " How can i say i love you for your mind, after everything i've just said? But i do." The relationship does develop in the novel but it never gets to the same level as Homer and Fi. Ellie occasionally gets distracted and confused about her feelings towards Lee and thinks that she loves him. With Lee being loveable he would have an advantage
Lee is not normally a country boy, but he sure does have a lot of skills that country people would've developed. His intelligence and his knowledge was very helpful in this novel. He is the kind of guy that should they should be glad that he had come to hell. I would thank Ellie for inviting lee to the trip to hell because i believe without Lee they wouldnt have got this far they have got. Lee does have a massive impact on the groups
